ABSTRACT
The article examines the fall from power of Soviet Union chief of Internal Affairs Lavrenty Beria in June 1953. According to the author, a secret plenary session of the Central Committee of the Soviet Communist Party in which Premier Georgy Malenkov accused Beria of criminal anti-party and anti-state actions led to the downfall and arrest of former Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin's henchman. The Presidium of the Supreme Soviet removed Beria from his state and ministerial positions and charged him with treason.
