ABSTRACT
The article profiles Frank McGuire, coach of the University of North Carolina Tar Heels college basketball team. The Tar Heels defeated the University of Kansas to win their 32nd straight victory and the National Collegiate Athletic Association championship. McGuire grew up in Greenwich Village, New York and was the son of a traffic police officer. His first year as a coach of the Tar Heels was marked by a victory over arch rival North Carolina State. He has been described as a man with dignity.
