ABSTRACT
The article presents a reprint of the article "Prevention by the pound," by Dr. Patrick Sullivan which was published at the website www.cmaj.ca. It discusses the importance of biomedical disease/treatment model for preventive medicine. It states that a patient's understanding of preventive medicine will depend on how the information was discussed to them by their physicians. Furthermore, it says that physicians know what is right for their patients because they have evidences for it.
