The article describes the implementation and assessment of the impact of geriatric educational interventions of staff nurses working at an urban teaching hospital. According to the authors, staff nurses had lower Geriatric Institutional Assessment Profile (GIAP) knowledge scores indicating that several practicing nurses have not received geriatric education. They stress the importance of including geriatric competencies in nursing education and annual employment evaluations to ensure the impact of geriatric education on nurses.
