ABSTRACT
The article examines the method of statutory interpretation employed by Associate Judge Susan P. Read of the New York Court of Appeals. It considers Read's interpretive tendencies and whether she uses a method consistently. It also looks at her view on the proper role of the courts with regard to the separation of powers. A summary of the background surrounding Read's nomination and confirmation to the Court of Appeals is presented.
