ABSTRACT
The article reports that hospitals are likely to receive higher payments for rendering outpatient maintenance dialysis services to Medicare beneficiaries with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) says that the so-called bundled payment system will add 1.8% or 3.9% to the payments on ESRD facilities. The CMS also said that the roughly 330,000 Medicare beneficiaries receiving outpatient maintenance dialysis will pay 1.2% more. INSET: Medications included in ESRD PPS base rate.
