The article discusses the obtainment of accurate and comprehensive data on radio frequency (RF) propagation characteristics for automating wireless data network management. Comprehension of radio characteristics is needed in the determination of optimal corrective measures for existing and anticipated network problems. Complex combinations of configuration changes can be rapidly considered by an automation system that has accurate propagation data through modern optimization software algorithms.
