ABSTRACT
The article discusses the scope of the Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act (UPMIFA) in the U.S. The National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws approves the Act in 2006 which imposes standards in the management and spending of institutional funds and endowments in charitable organizations. The UPMIFA expands the ability of the institution to modify restrictions contained in a gift. It also increases the responsibility of the director for the use of the fund.
