ABSTRACT
The goal of this work is to develop a mathematical model for the microstructure evolution of VNb and VNbTi microalloyed steels, during the continuous seamless tube hot rolling. For this purpose, the thermomechanical cycle is characterized in terms of their main variables. Following, this cycle is simplified for hot torsion simulation, due to equipment limitations to reproduce some strain, strain rates and cooling rates industrially developed. The hot torsion simulation is conducted in a computer controlled servo-hydraulic machine equipped with a radiant furnace. Samples for optical microscopy were obtained from interruption of simulation after selected steps of process. The results of hot torsion simulation microstructure evolution are used to select and adjust the necessary equations. The comparison of microstructure evolution, from hot torsion and mathematical model, shows, in general, a good correlation. The final microstructure from simulation is also similar to that industrially observed.
