The authors discuss capabilities coherence in companies which, according to them, creates value and sustain success. They note that a coherent firm is focused at three levels, namely, strategy and market position, product and service fit and capabilities system. They cites that capabilities coherence complements strongly with greater profitability. Among the benefits that can be reaped by companies that are coherent around capabilities are superior effectiveness, advantaged economics, focused strategic investment and organizational alignment.
