ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the proposal of Santiago Carrillo, secretary-general of the Spanish Communist Party (PCE), known as Thesis XV which aims to drop the party's Leninist label in favor of democratic, Marxist, and revolutionary. It says that the proposal of Carillo was presented at the congress of PCE in Spain in 1978, wherein he defended his Thesis by claiming that the party's identity was not lost and Lenin was not abandoned. Carillo adds that the label change contemplated new circumstances in Western Europe 54 years after the death of old revolutionary, expressing his goal to give PCE a better image in Spain. It mentions that majority of United Socialist Party of Catalonia (PSUC) delegates contradicts with the Thesis XV. However, the congress voted on the Thesis to drop the label.
