ABSTRACT
The article features the River Antoine Rum Distillery on the Caribbean island of Grenada. The distillery still uses a waterwheel powered by the Antoine River to crush sugar cane. By not modernizing operations to earn more, the owners preserved jobs for the 94 employees. River Antoine produces three young rums and the strongest of all has 75% alcohol content which few other Caribbean rums can exceed. Producing 700 bottles daily, the distillery still has difficulty meeting demand.
