ABSTRACT
The article offers tips on improving and maximizing the gross profit of a service department. According to a study, 80% of service department inefficiencies are caused, not by unforeseeable events that sometimes occur, but by the processes and procedures that shops implement or fail to follow. Key to making a shop more profitable is maximizing the gross profit produced by every technician, streamlining the parts department and organizing the parking lot. The article also provides metrics for measuring shop performance.
