ABSTRACT
The article reports on the acquisition of a majority stake in high-bandwidth, fiber-based communications network provider Unite Private Networks (UPN) by middle-market buyout and growth equity firm Ridgemont Equity Partners in 2010. According to George Morgan, a partner at Ridgemont, the equity investment was between 25 million and 100 million U.S. dollars in size. For this deal, the senior debt financing will be provided by Royal Bank of Canada along with CoBank and Webster Bank.
