ABSTRACT
The article reports on the financial performance of the Lenzing Group in the third quarter of 2009. The company gained better-than-expected business growth during the period due to improving demand for cellulose fibres, however, the global economic crisis affected its consolidated sales which declined by 10 percent from 1,012.1 million euros during the first nine months of the year. Quarter-to-quarter comparison showed almost unchanged sales figures indicating a stabilised business development. Net income improved to 24.6 million euros. The company's textile fibres unit achieved good sales as well as its special fibres unit.
