Investigates the relation of the Cavalieri Gaudenti military-religious Order to Enrico Scrovegni, patron of the Arena Chapel in Padua, in light of their possible importance to Giotto's paintings. Information of the earliest mention of the Cavalieri in regard to Scrovegni made during the 14th century; Documents establishing the Cavalieri's ownership of the chapel; Lack of unanimity among art historians.
