It states that demand of smaller cars which focus more on fuel efficiency may result in lesser use of rubber components. It mentions that rubber processors will have to make parts which will reduce overall weight of the vehicle and friction. It highlights that due to environmental considerations technologies such as hybrids and electric engines will have edge over rubber and polymers.
