ABSTRACT
The author opines regarding capital and liquidity reform called for by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and accounting rules that would apply to mortgage servicing assets. Said to be more stringent than previous U.S. regulatory safety measures for mortgage servicing rights, the Basel Committee reform is said to bode ill for a range of mortgage institutions including community banks and large firms like Wells Fargo & Company.
