ABSTRACT
The article presents a study on the use of high-pressure valve ventriculoperitoneal shunt to treat hydrocephalus in a 5-month-old male Maltese dog. The study involved the implantation of a ventriculoperitoneal shunt and used an adjustable valve set at 2.5 performance level to drain the cerebrospinal fluid to prevent overdrainage-induced collapse of brain parenchyma in the dog's brain. A computed tomography after 1 year and 6 weeks of surgery reveals reduction of the ventricles' size.
