ABSTRACT
The article reports on the performance of non-life insurance market in Malaysia. According to Mr. Lim Chia Fook, executive director of General Insurance Association of Malaysia (PIAM), the combined premium of the sector grew only by 5.8% in 2009 due to slow car sales and inflation. Ms. Loh Guat Lan, group managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) of Hong Leong Assurance, mentions that the limited investment returns of insurance firms are attributed to the impact of economic crisis.
