ABSTRACT
The article presents a report from the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) concerning the Social Security Administration (SSA). It investigates the fraudulent or improper release of disability payments from the Social Security Disability Insurance (DI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) programs. GAO's analysis of SSA and federal salary data shows that 1,500 federal employees may have improperly received benefits. The federal government paid 250 dollars to each SSA and DI recipient.
