Overcoming Hiring Hurdles

The article focuses on the hiring obstacles in the financial planning industry, and discusses several ways to overcome them. According to Pershing Advisor Solutions CEO Mark Tibergian, the average age of financial planners is rising and that few firms have effectively integrated younger planners. A number of strategies firms may possibly consider in hiring new planners which include participating in Career Day programs, attending career fairs on college campuses, participating in internship or mentoring programs, using industry-specific job sites such as financialplannerjobs.com, posting an ad in a newspaper, and working with a coach or recruiter, etc. are presented. Several approaches in finding the right candidate for the job are also offered.
