ABSTRACT
The article offers the author's insights on the approach of singer Shelby Lynne on her recording and songwriting. The author says that Lynne does not linger in lament, swaggers onstage during her performance, and sings in an honest manner. He cites that her voice is pure and there is the simplicity in her record-making approach, and that she loves the sound of an analog tape. He mentions that Lynne's "Tears, Lies and Alibis" was recorded in her living room in the desert outside Palm Strings.
