ABSTRACT
The article presents the report of the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) which reveals the non-compliance of key federal agencies in the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). It states that only the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Forest Service and National Park Service (NPS) did the most extensive efforts to identify their NAGPRA historical collections. It mentions that the non-compliance of federal agencies to NAGPRA was due to lack of funding.
