The article focuses on the report from the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) regarding alien smuggling along the southwest border in the U.S. It mentions that alien smuggling seizures in the U.S. is valued at about 7.6 million dollars in 2009. Moreover, several recommendations from GAO on how to address alien smuggling such as the evaluation of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the feasibility of expanding the Law Enforcement Agency Response (LEAR) program are discussed.
