People Management;7/15/2010, p40
The article discusses the career experiences of Valerie Mann, European human resources manager of HomeAway and a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). She says she was studying at a business school in France when she undertook a placement in a human resource (HR) department in Great Britain where she worked with two managers who influenced her to take a career in HR. Mann says she later worked for Sotheby's and later at HomeAway because she took the opportunity to help the company establish an HR presence in Europe.
