ABSTRACT
The article offers news briefs related to credit unions. U.S. National Credit Union Administration (NCUA)'s 1.1 million dollar assessment in July 2010, following the 1.4 billion dollar charge in 2009, is preventing many credit unions from recovery. Closure of seven banks, such as Sterling Bank and SouthwestUSA Bank, sums a total of 103 failures in 2010. The bank reform bill that allows a 250,000 dollar per account increase in federal deposit insurance coverage will benefit failed banks.
