ABSTRACT
The article discusses the increasing popularity of progressive design-build method to owners in the U.S. who believe they can lower cost or improve the outcome by participating directly in design decision. It notes that progressive method works well on complex projects or lacks definition as it provides flexibility that allows the owner and the design-build contractor to budget. It cites that in progressive design-build, the design-build contractor is selected based on qualifications.
