ABSTRACT
The article presents a study conducted by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) that examines the financial and compliance audits and reviews for the Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) and the Federal Direct Student Loan (DL). The differences of the two programs are indicated which include the varied sources they have for their structures and the requirements they demand for nonprofit and for-profit organizations. Also included are the similarities of the two programs.
