The article presents an alternative central-chiller-plant model that is consistent with the laws of thermodynamics and can be carried out with a laptop computer. It mentions that the demonstration of the model is based on an assumed chiller plant operating at design weather conditions in Salt Lake City, Utah. It adds that the model addresses hydraulic pressures, partload performance and effect of cooling-tower approach temperature and chiller-motor size.
