ABSTRACT
The article presents a study which analyzed the link between obesity and the presence of subclinical metabolic abnormalities (SMA) in pre-pubertal Mexican schoolchildren aged 6 to 13 years. The results of metabolic status evaluation and statistical analysis are presented. It found that two or more of the SMA were found in 16 obese children. A higher frequency of SMA such as hyperinsulism, impaired fasting glucose, and a family history of diabetes mellitus (DM) was linked to obese Mexican children.
