Navy sails close to the wind to manage staffing

The article focuses on the challenges experienced by the British Royal Navy with workforce planning. According to Royal Navy strategic workforce planner Commander David Cox, the issue is with avoiding an oversupply and underpayment of staff while maintaining the level of demand for personnel, which leads to improving recruitment or retention strategies. Employment statistics of the Royal Navy as well as budget allocation are presented. The impact of an economic development on Royal Navy recruitment is discussed.
