ABSTRACT
The article discusses the impact of the global financial crisis of 2008-2009 on the economic status of Turkey. It mentions that Turkey was severely affected wherein the economy shrunk by 4.7% in 2009. Undersecretary Murad Bayar noted that the Turkish defence industry was an exception where military projects were implemented as planned and has managed to survive. It further outlines important events that indicate maturity of the defence industry.
