ABSTRACT
The article reports on a study conducted by National Grid Co. PLC and other interested parties in Great Britain which concluded that there was a demand for new electricity interconnection between Great Britain and the Continent. The study indicated that the interconnection can deal with the issues of intermittency and excess power and retiring fossil fuel and nuclear plants. It also discovered the benefits of access to neighbouring wholesale and supply markets.
