ABSTRACT
The article offers information on a study which determined the relationship between vitamin D receptor gene polymorphisms and bone density, osteocalcin and growth. Study subjects were 88 healthy adolescents between the ages of 8 and 15. Dual energy X-ray absorptiometry was employed to determine areal bone mineral density (BMD) for lumbar spine, while ELISA method was used to determine serum osteocalcin level. A discussion on the research findings is detailed.
