ABSTRACT
The article offers information on a study which examined the changes in the adrenal and thyroid axes and the glucose metabolism both in the acute and subacute period in children with burn injury. Variables studied include serum adenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH), cortisol, fasting glucose and insulin and thyroid hormones. The relation between ACTH and cortisol and between blood glucose and insulin was determined using the Pearson correlation. A discussion on the research findings is detailed.
