The article offers reasons to boost data protection using VMware Inc.'s vSphere 4 software. It mentions that the software is equipped with VMware vStorage APIS for data protection, VMware Data Recovery (VDR), granular recovery, changed blocked tracking and vCenter Server plug-ins. It cites that the technology does not require physical proxy server. Other advantages of upgrading to vSphere 4 include direct backup from shared storage, thin provisioning, iSCSI improvements, and data deduplication.
