ABSTRACT
The article discusses the use of non-food-related feedstocks in producing cellulosic ethanol (CE), which is considered to be the next generation of biofuels in the U.S. Laurence Alexander, analyst at global investment bank Jeffries & Co., that the gap between corn-based ethanol and CE is narrowed by the introduction of better enzymes, transgenic crops and improved plant design. An overview of the roadmap to the commercialization of CE is offered.
