ABSTRACT
The ring system 2-[3-nitrophenyl-1-(pyridin-4-ylcarbonyl)-1H-pyrazol-4-yl]-3-substituted-1, 3-thiazolidin- 4-one 3a-j have been synthesized by the reaction of 3-(4-nitrophenyl)-1-(pyridin-4-ylcarbonyl)-1H-pyrazole-4- carbaldehyde 2 and different substituted aromatic amines in the presence of tolune. The structures of the compounds have been characterized by IR, ¹H NMR and Mass spectroscopy. The antibacterial activity of the newly synthesized compounds have been screened against Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aureginosa; antifungal activity against Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger have been screened using the disc diffusion method. The antitubercular activity has also been screened.
