The article examines the impact of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico on high-yield companies in the oil and gas industry. According to Eric Needleman, head of high yield with Sterne Agee, high yield investors will place emphasis on the reduction of exposure to credits with offshore Gulf of Mexico exploration and prospecting (E&P) projects. Since the start of the spill on April 20, 2010, bonds in the sector have consistently traded down.
