ABSTRACT
The article examines the trend among private equity (PE) firms of making investments in aircraft-leasing companies. An investment of 1.4 billion U.S. dollars was made by a group of PE firms, including CVC Capital Partners, Cinven Group and Oak Hill Capital Management, in Avolon. According to Adam Palmer, managing director in Carlyle's global aerospace, defense and government services group, purchasing aircraft with attached leases offer opportunities for better returns.
