ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the book "The Meaning of Matthew: My Son's Murder in Laramie, and a World Transformed," written by Judy Shepard about her gay son's death, and her efforts to fight for the LGBT community against the hate crimes in the U.S. She, in her book, exposes the hate crimes and describes how her son Mathew Shepard was murdered. Judy lobbied for the passage of the hate crime legislation, signed into law by President Barack Obama, and launched the Mathew Shepard Foundation.
