Neutron diffraction experiments have been performed on laboratory-prepared samples of copper alloys to determine their microscopic phase characteristics. The aim of this experiment is to set up a database that can be used in future neutron diffraction measurements on metal samples mainly of archaeological interest.

Optimal extraction of information from powder diffraction patterns requires an accurate description of the diffraction line shape. Most refinement techniques, such as Rietveld, treat the diffraction line width as a smooth function of d-spacing or diffraction angle. Anisotropic line-shape...

Neutron diffraction studies of the fine structure of a Ti49Ni51 single crystal are performed before the onset of the B2→B19′ martensitic transformation (temperature of the onset of the transformation Ms = 200 K). Upon cooling below 460 K, extra reflections are found to form; their...

The article focuses on the alpha brass alloys, which involve a large copper solid solution. The high-alloy copper-base systems with major zinc additions are called brasses, high-alloy copper-base systems with major tin or aluminum additions are called bronzes. The alloy is very strong and has...

First-principles molecular dynamics (FPMD) data on the structural properties of glassy GeSe2 under ambient conditions are produced by carefully considering and minimizing the effect of a residual pressure on the periodic system. When compared to previous FPMD results, this strategy leads to an...
