Navy takes telepharmacy worldwide

The article reports on the investment of the U.S. Navy Bureau of Medicine in a telepharmacy system. It notes that the Bureau provides Navy pharmacy technicians with real time access to a pharmacist. The project is designed to meet the requirements of Joint Commission for the prospective pharmacist review of outpatient prescriptions. The system offers an audio-and-video link between the remote pharmacies and pharmacist-staffed sites.
