The article presents an overview of the political and economic situation in central and eastern Europe in 2010. A worst strategy that occurred and affected Poland was the April 10, 2010 plane crash in Smolensk that led to the death of President Lech Kaczynski and other government officials. The incident affected the country's domestic politics as well as created concern over bilateral relations with Russia. It is reported that relation between Belarus and the European Union has deteriorated due to a government crackdown on the Union of Poles in Belarus.
