ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the rural settings of researching Chagas disease transmission and control in Ramón Raúl Alegre's mud hut in Pampa del Indio, Chaco. It states that University of Buenos Aires (UBA) scientists in Argentina are in search for the blood-sucking bug Triatoma infestans that causes Chagas disease. It mentions the class of insecticides dominating vector-control programmes for the disease called pyrethroid resistance. It highlights the research from Santiago del Estero province that shows bug population densities, bug's infection at different development stages, and the dynamics of the disease.
