ABSTRACT
The article discusses the state of the credit default swaps (CDS) market. According to Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou, it was CDS that led to his country's financial crisis and this was agreed by Gary Gensler, chairman of the Commodities Future Trading Commission. According to the author, the concept of naked short selling of CDS is problematic since CDS is useful as a hedging instrument for various risks.
