ABSTRACT
The article reports on the female wrestlers or cholitas of Bolivia who participate in staged fights complete with costumes. The lucha libre is performed by the women every Sunday in the street slums of La Paz. They wrestle in singles or in doubles, often with the participation of the male luchadores. The cholita is the main attraction of the event as she entertains the crowd when she plays the role of heroine or villain.
