The article describes the conjunctival flora found in 38 tawny owls or Strix aluco. Isolates obtained from 24 birds with bacterial growth were Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Enterobacter species. Escherichia coli was found in six birds, a yeast species in one bird and Pseudomonas aeruginosa in one bird. Staphylococcus aureus was the most sensitive to gentamicin, chloramphenicol, framycetin, neomycin, enrofloxacin and fusidic acid.
