ABSTRACT
The article presents information on the U.S. housing market as of June 2010. It focuses on the large numbers of foreclosures caused by the financial crisis which began in 2008. Efforts by banks and the U.S. government to delay and mitigate the number of foreclosure proceedings and mitigate the number of foreclosures have led to a backlog of delinquent mortgage loans. The impact this is likely to have on the housing market is analyzed.
